Other cancelled operations include PZ5G (IOTA DXpedition by DJ4EL to SA-092, planned for April), and a large scale DXpedition to the Chesterfield Islands (planned for October and postponed until sometime in 2021).
Among the cancelled events are the 2020 Hamvention (15-17 May) and its related dinners and associated events, two YOTA sub-regional camps (Balkans On The Air planned for 3-6 April in Serbia and Nordics On The Air planned for 10-13 April in Norway), the CQ WPX SSB Contest Youth Contest Program in Croatia, and the 17th IARU HST World Championship (planned for 20-24 August
in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia).

IOTA DXPEDITION POSTPONED ---> Cezar, VE3LYC and Adrian, KO8SCA expected to be active as V62P from Polap Atoll (OC-155), and as V62S from Satawal Atoll (OC-299, new one for IOTA) during the first half of May. "The Federal travel restrictions to Micronesia have been lifted", VE3LYC reported on 15 March, "but the states and even island communities can issue their own restrictions as they consider fit. This results in a rather fluid situation, which can change with very short notice. In view of this, our expedition plan is postponed until such a time when it can materialize". Updates will be posted to https://v6iota.weebly.com/.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RI0B ---> The team reached Rastorguyev Island (AS-068) on 16 March, but an unexpected storm prevented them from starting operations until the 18th. Amid aurora conditions, temperatures well below the freezing point and further gale force winds, they will be QRV until the local evening of 21 March. QSL via Club Log's OQRS; the log will be uploaded after the end of the DXpedition.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RSGB CONTEST RULES CHANGES ---> As a result of the UK government’s recent advice on social distancing, the RSGB HF Contest and VHF Contest Committees have decided that, with immediate effect and until the end of June 2020, they will no longer accept multi-operator contest entries for any RSGB Contest. Single operator entries from shared stations will also not be accepted, unless the station is being shared by family members living at the same postal address. In early June they will decide if the IOTA Contest and other events can go ahead as planned. See https://www.rsgbcc.org/cv19.shtml for the complete announcement.

Dear all,

Today, I have allocated 100% of Club Log's computing resources to scientific research into COVID-19 proteins, as part of the Folding@Home project.

Club Log is contributing 120 CPU cores (most running at 3.4GHz) to this project. I have taken the decision to give this work higher priority than Club Log's usual amateur radio functions, so you may see uploads take slightly longer. I do not think most users will notice the additional wait, but I've added a warning to the upload form inside Club Log to explain. I am also looking at dedicating many more computers through my primary business (Third Light).

You can read more about this distributed computing project at https://foldingathome.org/2020/03/15/coronavirus-what-were-doing-and-how-you-can-help-in-simple-terms/.

You can help, too, by contributing your own computer to the project. If you have a recent home computer with a good graphics card, and if a lot of people make a contribution, it will make a significant difference to the research, potentially reducing decades of work to a far shorter time frame that will make a practical difference this year. Before you rush in, bear in mind that you may incur extra energy costs and produce more heat as your computer will be continually operating at 100% CPU when you are not using it (this is ok on server equipment but make sure you know what you're doing if you are using a normal home computer).

To read more, start by opening https://foldingathome.org and follow the instructions to download the client for Windows or Mac if you wish.

Club Log has a Folding@Home team, number 246763.

Finally, I must let you know that I am stretched quite thinly at work as everything is up in the air. I know others will be experiencing this too. At the moment, I cannot spare much time for the Club Log helpdesk other than at the weekends. Sorry if there is any additional delay replying, but don't worry, Dick W4PID has joined our helpdesk and is already doing a wonderful job taking on your questions. Please also send your support to Marios, 5B4WN, who I am sure will be part of front-line medical efforts to save lives in the coming weeks.

To friends of Club Log everywhere, may I take this chance to send you my best wishes. Thanks for making it possible for Club Log to contribute to the Folding@Home project. I also hope you will find amateur radio can fill your days with something familiar and enjoyable! Stay well.
